Transit in HK

17 hours since take-off in Toronto and I’m doing well! Haven’t slept so much on a plane since I don’t remember when… think I slept for about 12 of the 17 hours. And for the first time EVER I actually took out my lap-top on board to work. I actually feel like I’m on a business trip, travelling from one conference to another, working on power point slides on the plane instead of watching movie marathons as I usually do. Am being []

T.O. Gal

It’s funny the little things I take for granted in Toronto. Like a quality Jap meal for under $15. While I was in London, Ont. today for the CSSE conference, Erin felt like having sushi for lunch. We drove around a while till we found a decent looking Jap place. Fish wasn’t all that fresh. Portions weren’t all that big. The bill was another matter… $44 for the 2 of us. Lunch! On the way to London we drove by some gorgeous []

New Look

It’s 1:26a.m. and i’m still not through practising for tomorrow’s presentation… and what do I do? Drink my first cup of coffee in about 4 years and decide to change the look of my blog to something that actually is a little more “me”. I’ve never really been an autumny person anyway.

CSSE

This coming Sat I’ll be presenting a paper at the University of Western Ontario at the Canadian Society for Studies in Education Conference (CSSE). Being a national conference, everything in the program is in both english and french. So, here’s the program entry for my presentation. Wouldn’t it be cool if I was actually able to deliver my entire presentation in french? :P 6.11 Saturday, May 28, 4:30-5:45 / le samedi 28 mai, 16h30-17h45 CAFE/ACEFE Room / salle 2042 Multi-Paper Session / []

Ice Kacang

Can I help it if this song drives me kacang? You always say I’m unromantic Dunno ways to make a girl tick I must say you’re right about it For I am truly unpoetic But I am not dumb, I’m not that stupid It’s just that sometimes brain not working So I didn’t sleep, use my little wit to write this little bit You are my ice kacang In this tropical heat You are my favourite dessert So inviting so sweet Would []

Cool Stuff

Found a new study-buddy yesterday (the young and adorable Huixuan, all of 18 years old) but instead of studying we spent half the time trading mp3s, listening to Tom Lehrer’s corny songs and making my desktop ‘cooler’. Huixuan introduced me to this program called ObjectDock which turns a PC desktop into a Macintosh look-a-like… The photo u see above is wat it looks like. So instead of boring icons cluttering your desktop, u have them in one cool row which magnifies when []

Babee Brudder

This msg is for my brother who is booking in to OCS again after a well-deserved long weekend home. J-B, thanks for leaving me msgs on your blog – it’s always nice to know tt my favourite sibling misses me in the midst of his busy life what with army and girlfriend. Your latest blog entry made me reminicisce about our 4 years together in 217-222 Elm St too. You know what I miss most? Our soccer banter… since you left, my []

Hubby Upgrade

Net BUZZ UPGRADING HUSBAND SOFTWARE May 12, 2005 LAST year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a slow down in the overall performance, particularly in the flower and jewellery applications that had operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0. In addition, Husband 1.0 un-installed many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5, but installed undesirable programs such as NFL 5.0, NBA 3.0 and ESPN 2.0. And now Conversation 8.0 no longer runs and House Cleaning 2.6 []

Metamorphosis

Reading my roommate’s latest blog entry struck a chord deep within me. I too feel that 2005 so far has been a year of change for me, although I can’t quite figure out what the change is for and where it is heading. I feel like I’ve been prodded awake from a long and comfortable slumber and I’m in the moment between sleep and wakefulness when I don’t yet have my bearings and am grumpily wondering why I’m being woken up. Well, []

Bridge Quirks

It’s not like I conducted a scientific experiment about this, but I’ve certainly got anecdotal evidence to support this conclusion: I play better bridge when I’m rested and fed. Yesterday afternoon was pleasantly spent napping and then eating pizza while being quizzed on bridge hands by Daryl. For the first time in 3 weeks I wasn’t hungry throughout the 3 hours we played bridge at Hart House! And maybe, just maybe, that was the reason why I played better than I have []
