After inviting HM to roast a whopping 16lb rib roast in my kitchen yesterday, I decided it was high time I tried out the self-cleaning function of my high-tech oven. What a joy it was to behold its interior this morning after having it self-cleaned. All those sticky, stubborn gravy/fat/goodness-knows-what-else spatter and stains were GONE. All that was left were some ash that was easily wiped off with a damp kitchen towel. Amazing. Unfortunately I couldn’t leave the oven racks inside during the self-clean cycle, so looks like Wanting and I will be taking turns scrubbing our fingers raw (I spent 45 mins scrubbing just half a rack and we’ve got three racks). We wouldn’t have such a hard time if we’d cleaned the oven more regularly, but ech…the complacency that comes with knowing one has a self-cleaning oven…:P Too bad we didn’t read in advance that we had to clean the racks by hand.
