Les Miz in September!

After 2 hrs of on and off suspense, I finally managed to get tickets for Les Miserables! Yay, will get to see Jean Valjean, Cosette, Enjolras, Marius and most of all…Eponine once again! 12 years since I last saw them… wonder if it will be as wonderful as I remembered it to be? “Do you hear the people sing…?”

Pecan Paradise

For some reason I’m not someone who is easily surprised. But I was surprised early this morning. I thought I had gone to the airport just to fetch Huixuan and her mom. Instead, I received a third arrival from Toronto: 2 slices of delectable pecan pie from Swiss Chalet! Huixuan had gone and bought it specially before her flight… what she doesn’t know is that I’m not the only one in my family crazy about pecan pie. They all are! Shall wait []

Baby Booties

Today’s entire morning was dedicated to clearing out my wardrobe. When I was finally done, Mom decided she also wanted to clear some very, VERY old clothes of mine. Out came a suitcase full of selected clothes, both mine and Johnny’s… from newborn shirts to kindergarten uniforms and even John’s Monkey God costume that my grandma made all those years ago for his performance! It’s amazing how carefully Mom kept all these little treasures. Most precious to me was the set of []

It's Nice…

It’s nice to feel that you’ve become a somewhat important part of someone’s life. It’s nice that she knows what souvenir you’d like. It’s nice to feel there’s a bond that you can enjoy in both the worlds you currently inhabit. It’s nice.

Headed for Never Never Land?

Congratulations Ann, you are… mr brown of http://www.mrbrown.com Like that ad for Toys ‘R Us, you are that kid who doesn’t want to grow up. Except you do. And now you’re just a big overgrown kid who doesn’t want grow up. You have a warped yet addictive sense of humour. It takes skills to poke fun at serious things and you have no problems doing that. Your peers look up to you and yet you’re humble about everything. You are an infantile. []

Pink and yellow and green and purple and…

Yes, those are the new wall colours of CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School. *sob sob* Why?!?! I did a triple take when I was driving along Ang Mo Kio Ave 2 on my way to visit my alma mater… couldn’t believe that my beautiful school now looks like something out of a pre-schooler’s colouring book. Orange, red, blue, pastel green, purple, pink, yellow… argghh!!! What happened to simplicity and elegance? What happened to the simple white and light blue walls that I []

Sunday, "Fun"day

Other than one incident which pretty much marred my day, today was by any other standards a good day. 3 things stood out which made it a fun Sunday: 1) Ping-Pong: Finally had a rematch with Zibin after 4 years. The last time we played was at my aunt’s place and it wasn’t all that shiok since we played barefoot, w/o our bats and in a low-ceiling room. Today we played in a squashcourt, newly reconfigured bats and with proper footwear (big []

Tradition….Tradition!

It’s “Duan Wu Jie” again, and since I was really young, I had looked forward to this festival because of my grandmother’s rice-dumplings. I remember when I was around 9 or 10 yrs old, I once sat down with 2 of my cousins (all of us were the older siblings) in my grandmother’s kitchen and tried to learn how to wrap the dumplings. We were terrible at it of course, and got more rice on the table than in the bamboo leaves, []
