Definitive Bat

There are bats, then there are bats. I’d always thought Batman to be the coolest of the marvel comic superheroes because Bruce Wayne has a genuinely tortured past – not to mention being a billionaire and not actually having any super powers. And now finally, there’s a Batman movie and an actor that does justice to Bruce Wayne and Batman. Christian Bale had been on my radar ever since I saw him as Laurie in Gillian Armstrong’s Little Women. A young, fresh-faced pretty boy back then, he’s got the grit and depth to make the bat persona work for him without seeming campy. Finally, a Batman with both heart and soul. Not bat at all.
