Privilege … Inequity… Dissonance

Because of a special request I decided to try changing my flight back to Toronto to August 24th. I thought it would be a slim chance as the last few times I put myself on waiting lists for Cathay Pacific flights to Toronto I either didn’t get it, or got it on the day before my confirmed flight. This time was different. I made the call at 9a.m. They called back at 9:40a.m. and told me i had a new confirmed flight for the 24th. Is this due to my new ‘priority wait-listing’ privileges as a Marco Polo Club member? Dissonance. Love the convenience. But even in the already relatively privileged arena of air travel, the obvious inequity grates on my nerves. Yet when I’m benefitting from it, it’s hard not to enjoy being one of the privileged. Sigh.
