All we wanted was a few days of total relaxation with as little travelling as possible. After a brilliant suggestion from Jing Jing and minimal research on our part, we decided to book the Spa Pool Villa at Banyan Tree Bintan for our honeymoon.

We had an absolutely fantastic time… it was suited perfectly to our personalities and preferences. We wanted to relax in a quiet place… we had a lovely villa with our own private swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, indoor and outdoor showers and massage room. We like to eat… we had complimentary in-villa breakfast and afternoon tea every day with a great variety on the menu. Our villa package also came with a complimentary 90min massage for each of us, and a 1-hour private yoga lesson, and 10% discount from their gift store as well as 20% discount off subsequent massage sessions.

We were blessed with wonderful weather the 4 days we were there, and we swam, ate and had spa sessions every day! Oh, and we also found out that Sir Ian McKellan stayed at the exact same villa we did before he came to Singapore to perform in King Lear. We even got the same personal resort host he did *wink*.

It was fun to experience First Class treatment all the way which we could afford because we were just going to Bintan. Express clearance at customs, private car to and from the resort, and lots of little perks at the resort because we were staying at their one and only Spa Pool Villa.

It was fun being treated like royalty for a few days! Now, of course, we’re back to being peasants in our cosy little home that does not yet even have a rice-cooker. Luckily our pots arrived from Canada recently so I can at least cook pasta or soba and other noodles!

Check out the cool villa we stayed in and the great food we enjoyed at my latest photo album!
