Give

Teach us, good Lord,
to serve you as you deserve,
to give and not to count the cost,
to fight and not to heed the wounds,
to toil and not to seek for rest,
to labour and not to ask for any reward,
save that of knowing that we do your will.

Amen.
(St. Ignatius of Loyola)

It never lets up. You never let up.
So often the demands of discipleship astounds and burdens me.
But the more my soul opens up to receive Your love O Lord,
the more my heart yearns to give.
Help me to pour out every last drop of life in me for Your Kingdom,
and to gladly sacrifice even my dearest love if You ask me, as Abraham did.
Give me the grace to die only when I have nothing left to give you,
so that I would truly have spent my life loving you and your people,
and I would be full of joy when I finally see you face to face.
