To You Who Love Christ

I have always marvelled at the bond that Christ brings to strangers. That bond that is Christ is a communion that puts every other kind of human bond in the shade.

When two people who have given their hearts and lives to Christ meet, there is a mutual recognition of the other’s discipleship and belonging to Christ. They may know next to nothing about each other and yet they experience a deep kinship of the soul because they have been wounded by the same Beauty and have given their hearts to the same Love.

We who have pledged our lives and service to God recognise each other by the mark that all disciples bear – the serene fortitude of one who has given up everything in order to bear the Cross. And when we recognise a fellow disciple, our hearts are filled with joy because our Lord who is so worthy of love is loved so deeply by another.

Thank you, my brother, my sister, for the love you bear our Lord.

“May they all be one, just as, Father, you are in me and I am in you, so that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe it was you who sent me.” Jn 17:21
