When I was at St. Nicks last week, I was pleased to see this banner with the verse from Micah 6:8. Somehow it felt really apt for a school that had “Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty” for its school motto. Depending on your translation of the Bible, the verse may be slightly different, but the essence is to do what is right, to love (kindness/loyalty/mercy) and to walk humbly with God.
Just this past Monday, my mom came back after having attended evening mass and shared this reading with me. It prompted me to revisit this passage for reflection.
“Do justice. Love kindness. Walk humbly with your God.” “Simple in Virtue, Steadfast in Duty.” Both short and simply put, but how challenging it is to try and live them every moment of my life!
