Unexpected Blessings

It’s a rather strange, yet warm and interesting experience… getting to know people whom I’ve known my entire life.

My 大姑 and 大姑丈 are in town to visit me, and Zibin and I have been playing host. Neither of us expected just how much we’d enjoy the time we are spending with them. We’ve always gotten along well with this aunt and uncle, but this week it’s like we’re getting to know them on a whole new level.

Spending so much time together these few days, I’ve gained more insight into their lives and personalities than I’ve had in the last 27 years. We talked about family members, exchanged interesting stories and just generally had a jolly good time. :)

Yesterday, Zibin and I received an unexpected and extremely generous treat from 大姑 – the opportunity to view Niagara Falls at night, and to spend the night in a room on the 31st floor of the Sheraton Fallsview which had a beautiful view of the falls (hence the name :P). Niagara Falls actually has a rather special place in our romantic history, and so, it turned out to be a fitting (if a little belated) celebration of our 3rd ROM anniversary which was on August 4th.

I’ve been to Niagara Falls so many times in my life that I had begun to become a little jaded about its beauty. But this trip was a breath of fresh air. Even visiting the lovely town of Niagara-On-The-Lake was different because I went to Victoria’s Tea Gallery (thank you, Edmund!). I don’t know why I never noticed that shop before. I love it! It’s a tea-lover’s paradise (it also sells coffee but that doesn’t interest me :P).

I took lots of photos…had lots of fun…and we were blessed with beautiful weather, both at Niagara and in Toronto today. It was another blue sky day here in Toronto, and I am feeling very tired but satisfied! :)
