Bread & Mushroom

I love bread… ciabattas, foccacias, baguettes… freshly baked and fragrant!

Jing Jing bought me a little souvenir from Niagara recently, and that girl didn’t know just how fantastic a gift it was for this bread lover. She got me a simply divine asiago and parmesan bread topper from Kurtz Ochard in Niagara-on-the-Lake. It contains grape seed oil, romano cheese, asiago cheese, onions, shallots, garlic, parsley and dehydrated chili peppers among other things. Topped on crusty hot bread it is supremely scrumptious!

Ah and mushrooms… I adore mushrooms too… white, brown, portobello, shiitake, chanterelle, porcini, matsutake… grilled, fried, in soup, in pasta, on bread… *yuummmm*

It’s always great to meet another big-time mushroom lover… and almost always I will ask such persons if they have been to The Mushroom Pot. It’s not very cheap, but it is most definitely worth a visit for any bona fide mushroom lover!

As for bread lovers, well… there’s always Simply Bread. I used to love their sticky buns and brioche back in my JC days… and now I have a friend (Jing) who has worked there before and can give me the low-down on what to order the next time I visit! :P
