1 year of being Mrs Hoo

When I was a little girl, I used to fantasize about how lovely it would be if I could live with my best friend and share every day and night with her. We could play anytime we wanted and we’d always have each other to share our laughter and our tears. Well, for the past one year, I’ve realized that fantasy, and it is everything I had hoped for and more.

Sure there are good days, and there are bad days… and more often than not we wish we had more time and space to be together, but we have been very, very happy. Our home isn’t always tidy and chores don’t always get done on time, but some of our favourite time together is when we clean our home in tandem. There may be too many evenings when dinner gets cold because he has to work late, but I cherish even one of those late night dinners when he still helps to clean up and chat with me as I wash the dishes more than any number of flowers or presents he could ever give me.

I don’t care for pretty phrases, expensive presents or exotic vacations in my marriage. I want lots of hugs, and kisses, and laughter, and honest sharing… and I want love – pure, passionate, gentle and sweet unadulterated love… and I want the truest friendship and a trust-filled partnership. And that is exactly what I have been gifted with this past year. So thank You, Lord for this blessing, and thank you, dear husband for loving me so well. Happy anniversary!
