I never cease to be amazed at the way God brings people into my life. Just when I have begun to feel daunted by the brokenness of humanity and the raw hunger and need in people’s lives; just when I begin to feel I am too ill-equipped for the work God wants me to do, God brings me a fellow wounded healer – someone who is broken but who has encountered the healing grace of God, and whose spiritual gift is exhortation and encouragement. One phone call was all it took for me to feel uplifted and affirmed of the messages I have been receiving these past few days.
Who am I to deserve such care and patronage from God? Indeed I am undeserving of such complete and patient love. Even when I doubt in the face of such faithfulness, even when I deny Him time and time again, He is ever ready to heal me and love me.
I wish to share a song which touched me deeply on Saturday during the day retreat I attended at the Catholic Spirituality Centre. For it reminds me that I am so little and insignificant, and yet I am made a princess, a priestess and a prophetess (priest, prophet and king in Christ) just because God loves me.

Who am I?
That the Lord of all the earth,
Would care to know my name,
Would care to feel my hurt.
Who am I?
That the bright and morning star,
Would choose to light the way,
For my ever wandering heart.
Bridge:
Not because of who I am,
But because of what you’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
But because of who you are.
Chorus:
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I’m calling,
Lord, you catch me when I’m falling,
And you’ve told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.
Who am I?
That the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
And watch me rise again.
Who am I?
That the voice that calmed the sea,
Would call out through the rain,
And calm the storm in me.
Not because of who I am,
But because of what you’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
But because of who you are.
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I’m calling,
Lord, you catch me when I’m falling,
And you’ve told me who I am.
I am yours.
Not because of who I am,
But because of what you’ve done.
Not because of what I’ve done,
But because of who you are.
I am a flower quickly fading,
Here today and gone tomorrow,
A wave tossed in the ocean,
A vapor in the wind.
Still you hear me when I’m calling,
Lord, you catch me when I’m falling,
And you’ve told me who I am.
I am yours.
I am yours.
