Paschal Mystery

There comes a time in life when we will give thanks not only for the things that hold us together,
but for the things that make us fall apart.

There comes a time in life when we become grateful not only for the people who make us happy,
but for the people who make our life unbearable.

There comes a time when the joys of friendship fade and the pleasures of life turn bland,
and yet we are glad.

There comes a time when life turns to death and all hope seems lost,
and yet we find we have faith.

There comes a time when we stop seeking the solace of God
and seek instead the bare face of God, no matter the cost.

There comes a time when things fall apart and we remain serene because
we are held by a love so mysterious it cannot be seen, or felt, or understood.

There comes a time when we can no longer explain,
and we will find to our surprise that we no longer feel the need to explain.

There comes a time when we learn to find peace in the way things are
instead of grieving for the way things ought to be.

When that time comes upon us we will know, in a way unknown,
a Love that embraces the unloveable in us;

Then, and only then, will there come a time when we will love as He loves,
and come to live as He lives.
